Congratulations to our graduating seniors this evening. You have reached a milestone in your life and achieved a goal that is treasured around the world. As you take your next step, I pray the God of peace and glory will keep His hand on you and guide you to your greatest day. Now, I have a word of wisdom for you. One thing is certain:
You will need wisdom for this next step.
There are always and only Two things required to be successful in life and in any endeavor. (school; business; marriage; family; ministry)
1. Know the right answer.
2. Apply that answer to the situation.
There is always a best … always a right … always something you can do or say that will please God.
Knowing what the best is, can be your greatest challenge.
This is where a growing relationship with the Holy Spirit becomes vital to your future.
You will need wisdom for the decisions of life which belong to you. You are the only one who can apply answers to the tests and the situations you face.
Wisdom comes in two types:
1.
The wisdom of this world.
a. Earthly; Sensual; Demonic
b. Filled with envy, selfishness, and confusion.
James 3:15 This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic.
2.
Godly wisdom.
a. Pure; peaceable;
gentle; willing to yield; full of mercy and good fruits; without partiality;
without hypocrisy.
b. Being right with God produces brings peace in our lives.
James 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.
What am I recommending that you do to prepare yourselves for the next step?
James 1:5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
Develop a habit of talking to God and asking Him what you should do. It sounds simple. However, God will give you the right answer. How can you know it is from God?
Again, the wisdom that comes from God will be pure, peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, filled with mercy and good fruits, it will not be based on prejudice or hypocrisy. God’s answer will not be rooted in envy or selfishness, and it will not leave you or others confused.
You
can do this … Ask God!
