Born of God

Gtcotr/ss010316

We are beginning 2016 with two Goals that will help us to succeed throughout the year. BTW - Only God can measure success!
1.   Position
2.   Apply

First we are going to make and maintain the habit of positioning ourselves to hear the Word of God this year. This can be as easy as attending Church services, listening to praise and worship on the radio, reading our bibles or watching preaching and teaching on TV or online. The second goal is once we have heard the Word of God we are going to apply that Word to our lives. This is going to be an enjoyable and productive year for us.

We will explore and discover the simple power of God’s Word to change every area of our life for the better. On Sundays and Wednesdays we are going to cover topics such as marriage, money, parenting, divine health, forgiveness, demonic oppression, hearing the voice of God and how to overcome temptation. These subjects and many others will provide opportunity for us to take some simple steps in life that will make us more pleasing to God and others. Don’t miss out on the personal and family growth plan God has ready for you this year right here with us each week.

This coming Wednesday evening we begin our study of the Word of God concerning divine healing. I encourage you to position yourself to hear the Word and thereby you will be empowered to take that next step God has in mind for you. This morning we are going to begin our journey at the beginning. Turn with me in your Bibles to the Gospel of John, chapter 1. Did you know that every Believer in Jesus has been Born of God?

John 1
1  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2  He was in the beginning with God.
3  All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

14  And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

4  In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
5  And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.

10  He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.
11  He came to His own, and His own did not receive Him.
12  But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name:
13  who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

John 3:6  "That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit."

1 John 4
4  You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.

1 John 5
4  For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world — our faith.
5  Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?

When we believe God concerning His Son Jesus and receive Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we are born of God. We are no longer limited to a mere flesh and blood existence but have become a new creation in Christ.

2 Corinthians 5
17  Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

As a new creation in Christ we are born of the Spirit of God through faith and our destiny is forever settled in heaven. We have been born into the family of God and like any child, although we require time to grow up and mature a little, nothing can deny us the inheritance we have in Christ. God is 100% committed to His family, which is the Church, and He will never leave us or forsake us. Throughout eternity nothing will ever again separate God from His children. We have a secure relationship with God.

Romans 8
35  Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
37  Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
38  For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come,
39  nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

God loves you and nothing is ever going to change that fact. You can’t change it; I can’t change it; Circumstances or situations of life won’t change it; Failures or disappointments won’t change it; the devil can’t change it … not even death will change it. Because you have been Born of God you are more than a conqueror and greater than any obstacle you will ever face in life or the life to come. You are a child of Almighty God and He is your Father. God is the best Father in the universe.

This morning I challenge you to hear this word and Embrace God as your Father. Begin taking advantage of the relationship you have with Him in every area of your life. You have already overcome all this world threatens and can muster. Greater is He who is in you than he who is in this world. You are a child of Almighty God!

Now begin to speak the Word of God over your life, your family, your job, your nation and the generation you serve. Your words exercise power - so speak the will of God and see what happens when a Child of God begins to grow up and exercise their faith.

You are Born of God … Believe it and receive it in Jesus’ name!!!
