Working With God

Gtcotr/ss080915a

John 6 NKJV
28  Then they said to Him, "What shall we do, that we may work the works of God?"
29  Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent."

When we believe in Jesus we become workers with God in the works of God.  What are the works of God?

·        Personal Salvation
o   The most important work of God in anyone’s life is the eternal salvation of their soul. God did His part – we must do ours …
o   The personal salvation of your soul means more than any other aspect of your life.
o   What would it profit a man if he gained the whole world and lost his soul or what would a man give in exchange for his soul.
o   How does a person receive the work of God called salvation?
o   By working with God as we believe in and on the Lord Jesus!
Acts 16
30  And he brought them out and said, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved?"
31  So they said, "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household."

·        Physical Healing
o   Perhaps the most sought after temporal help in all the world without which people would often live and die in such despair.

To the woman who touched Him:
Luke 8:48  And He said to her, "Daughter, be of good cheer; your faith has made you well. Go in peace." (She worked with God …)
To the leper who returned to thank Him:
Luke 17:19  And He said to him, "Arise, go your way. Your faith has made you well." (He worked with God …)
To the blind man who called out to Him on the road near Jericho:
Luke 18:42  Then Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight; your faith has made you well."

Matthew’s Gospel records Jesus asking, “Do you believe that I am able to heal you?”  --- Jesus is saying, “Come on now, work with Me!”

Mark’s Gospel records Jesus talking to a man who had a sick child:
        Mark 9
23  Jesus said to him, "If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes."
24  Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, "Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!"

Jesus is willing to meet us at the point of our faith and help us work with God … -  Mark 11:25 … when you pray, believe … (Work with Me!)
·        When we put our trust in God we begin to participate in the miracle of faith. We believe in the finished work of God and faith works …

·        Family Relationships
o   God’s Word has so much to say about family and how we are to treat one another.
·        Financial Blessings
o   The Gospels record that Jesus said more about money than He said about heaven and hell combined.
o   God does not mind us having money but He does not want  money to have us. He wants us trust Him and work with Him
o   God has offered to become our financial partner. It is the only area in which God has said we could put Him to the test …
·        Help in Times of Crisis and Need
o   The Lord is an ever present help in the time of trouble.
Acts 27:25  "Therefore take heart, men, for I believe God that it will be just as it was told me.

1 Corinthians 1:21  For since, in the wisdom of God, the world through wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe.

Believe in the finished work of God through Jesus … Work with Him …
