The Birth of the Living Soul

 

Genesis 2:7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

 

• Adam was created as an individual living soul. 

o He was born in a body.

o The spark of life in him was the Spirit of God.

o Adam came alive as an individual with individual thoughts, desires, wants, perspectives, and feelings.

• Eve was created as a different living soul.

o Eve felt and thought and acted differently than Adam.

o She had a body, and the spirit of life, but she had an individual soul.

• Both Adam and Eve were perfect and without sin, yet they had individual personal feelings and reasons that made sense to them.

• Every person who has ever been conceived is an individual living soul, with individual feelings, thoughts, and perspectives.

o Every soul since Adam and Eve was conceived into existence by the mating of two other souls.

o Souls are not pre-existent but are rather born eternal and individual.

 

The Death of the Living Soul

 

It is the soul of man that suffers the dying death of sin. 

• “In the day you eat thereof you shall surely die.”(Genesis 2:17)

• Adam lived to be 930 years old and then he died.(Genesis 5:5)

o In dying you shall die.

o Sin brings forth death. (James 1:15)

 

With the acceptance of sin through disobedience, the prophetic word of God came to pass, and Adam and Eve’s souls lost the spark of eternal perfection and died. The separation between God and man became an eternal reality as God warned. 

The only remedy for separation from God is to be born-again by the grace offered through faith in Jesus Christ. The Gospel reveals the Good News!

Hebrews 10:39 But we are not of those who draw back to perdition, but of those who believe to the saving of the soul.

 

Once a soul is saved through the born-again experience, that soul becomes a babe in Christ and is challenged and led by the Holy Spirit to grow up into Christ in all things. Growth requires a remodeling of our soul. 

 

1 Corinthians 15:45 And so it is written, “The first man Adam became a living being.” The last Adam becamea life-giving spirit.

 

The Hope of every Living Soul

 

1 Thessalonians 5:23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

 

The life of a Born-Again Believer living on the earth is to grow and reflect the glory of God as a light shining in the darkness of this world as a witness to the lost and a support to the Church. 

 

Romans 12

1  I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.

2  And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

 

If you are the same Christian, or the same employee, or the same spouse or friend you were a decade ago, what happened? Nothing evidently!
