Memory Verse: Numbers 23:19 God is not a man, that
He should lie, Nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will
He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? (NKJV)
Lesson: The Crucifixion
Bible Character: Jesus
Pastor Ron’s remarks and intro of First principle
1 John 4
7 ¶ Dear friends, let us
continue to love one another, for love comes from God. Anyone who loves is a
child of God and knows God.
8 But anyone who does not
love does not know God, for God is love.
9 God showed how much he
loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have
eternal life through him.
10 This is real love—not that
we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away
our sins.
11 Dear friends, since God
loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other.
First Principle: Love Gives First
Scripture Reference:
Romans 5 NLT
6 When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time
and died for us sinners.
8 But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us
while we were still sinners.
Question: In what arenas of
life can we see love giving first?
Conclusion: True love gives
first. True love forgives first. True love takes the first step without the
promise of reward or reciprocation.
Pastor Ron’s remarks and intro of next principle
1 John 4:19 We love Him
because He first loved us.
Second Principle: Love Gives Most
Scripture Reference:
John 3:16 For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life.
Question: How can we pattern
ourselves after God’s example? Share some practical ways we can give more than
we expect to receive in return.
Conclusion: True love is
willing to give more than it receives.
Pastor Ron’s remarks and intro of next principle
Third Principle: Love Gives Always
Scripture Reference:
1
Corinthians 13:7 Love never
gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every
circumstance.
Question: Does love apply in
situations outsides of the home, marriage and family? How about in the
workplace; inn school; or in the community?
Conclusion: The love of God is
first given to us for us and then given to us for others. We are expected by
God to be like Him: to love first, love most and love always. In this we do
show the love of God to a lost and hurting world.
Pastor
Ron closing remarks and the Rest of the Story …
John 13:35 "By this all
will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another."
The
Greatest Commandments: Love God more than we do ourselves and love others as
much as we do ourselves.
