The Captain of Our Salvation

Gtcotr/ss040923

John 1 NKJV

1 ¶  In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2  He was in the beginning with God.

3  All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

• Jesus was God incarnate; God made flesh.

John 1:14  And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

• Jesus was our Creator.

Colossians 1:16  For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created byHim and for Him.

• Jesus is our King.

Jesus owned the right to be our King because He is our Creator. However that was not enough to satisfy His sense of justice. He did not use His position to pardon, rather He used His life to pay.

He does not merely own the right to be our King, He earned the right to be our King. This seemed fitting. How can you ask someone to follow when you have not followed? How can you expect someone to give when you have not given first? How can you command others to love when you have not shown them the way?

God demonstrated His love for us in that Christ died for the ungodly. We love Him because He first loved us. (Romans 5:6; 1 John 4:19)

Jesus does not merely own the right to be your King; Jesus earned the right to be your King.

Although Jesus was in the beginning with God; and He was God; and all things were made by Him and for Him … nonetheless:

Philippians 2:7  He made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.

Isaiah 53

3  He was despised and rejected by men, A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief. And we hid, as it were, our faces from Him; He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.

4  Surely He has borne our griefs And carried our sorrows; Yet we esteemed Him stricken, Smitten by God, and afflicted.

5  But He was wounded for our transgressions, He wasbruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed.

Philippians 2:8  And being found in appearance as a man, Jesus humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.

Isaiah 53:6  All we like sheep have gone astray; We have turned, every one, to his own way; And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

Philippians 2

9  Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,

10  that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,

11  and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Why? Because He earned it!!!

Jesus is not only our Creator, He also became our Savior

Hebrews 2:10  For it was fitting for Him, for whom areall things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

Today we celebrate the death, burial, and especially theresurrection of our Lord and Savior, the Creator of all things, our Redeemer and King, Jesus!

I serve a risen Savior, He’s in the world today … He lives …

Rejoice rejoice O Christian, lift up your voice and sing … He lives …

Salvation is by invitation only. Jesus is knocking at the door of your heart. He will step into your life if you will open your heart and invite Him in. You can do this right now. This is what changed my life, and it will change yours too.
