The Christmas Story - Part One - We Need a Savior

Gtcotr/ss120207

The uniform doctrine of the scriptures affirm the truth that God was in Christ reconciling the whole world unto Himself. (2 Corinthians 5)

Jesus of Nazareth is:

The Son of God

The Promised Messiah of the Jews

The Lion of the Tribe of Judah

The Baby in the manger of Bethlehem

The Man on the cross of Calvary

The Sacrifice for all sin forever

The Savior of the world

Key Scripture: 1 John 4:14 And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Savior of the world. (KJV)

The kindness and mercy of God extends to all men.

Jesus’ life was a picture of what God wanted to do for all mankind and Jesus’ death paid for God’s chance to do it.

God does good to everyone, and especially to those who believe on Jesus as Lord and Christ.

Jesus saves everyone from day to day in hopes that He might save each one for all eternity.

God loves, blesses, forgives, guides, guards, gives, protects, provides, defends, delivers, secures and satisfies constantly. He is ever busy with angels on assignment watching out over all the earth, caring for the children of men.

God is not a mad, mean, misinformed tyrant, unforgiving, hard, harsh, judgmental, cruel or condemning. He is not an angry sovereign looking for a chance to cut your head off, send you to hell and show you what you deserve.

He is compassionate and kind, merciful and patient, gentle and loving, honest and true. He is a Father to the fatherless and an ever present help in the time of trouble.

And, in His mercy, in His love, in His kindness He sent His Only Begotten Son, Jesus to be our Savior. Why? Because We Need A Savior!

Jesus can do what no other power can do.

He will save you daily and He will save your soul forever, if you only believe in Him and call upon His Name.

This week I was asked if I believed God hears and answers the prayers of people who are not saved. Does God care? A bible story came to my mind and I want to share it with you this morning.

Matthew 15 KJV

21 ¶ Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.

22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.

23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.

26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children’s bread, and to cast it to dogs.

27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters’ table.

28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

All this woman knew was that she needed a savior and Jesus was her answer. She simply said, “Lord, help me.” Then she was persistent in her request and her unsaved prayers were heard and answered.

It was right that Jesus came to His own people first, the house of Israel, the covenant children of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.

Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

The Gospel is still first to the Jews and then to the Gentiles.

Romans 10:12 For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

John 1 KJV

11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

You need a Savior today and no matter who you, and:

* Jesus will care for you on a daily basis. He will hear your prayers for help and He will not forsake your continual cries.

* And, Jesus wants to save your soul today for eternity. What you cannot do He did for you. Believe on Him today and more than just asking Him for help and attention, give Him your life. He will save you and give you eternal life.

* Don’t wait! No matter who you are, Jew or Gentile, we all need a Savior and His name is Jesus! Ask Him to save you today.

1 Timothy 4:10 For therefore we both labor and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Savior of all men, especially of those that believe.
