Vision Of The House

Vision Of The House

Gtcotr/ws092904

Please Turn In Your Bibles To Matthew 28

Key Scripture: Proverbs 29:18a Where there is no vision, the people perish …

Perish = ‘Cast Off Restraint’

No Guidelines; No Firm Direction

We all need to know where we are going … Jesus did!

Matthew 16:18 "And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.

Three Things About The Vision At GTCOTR

#1. We Know Where We Are Going

The Only Marching Orders God Ever Gave The Church Was

“Go Into All The World & Make Disciples

Therefore: We are going into all the world to make disciples.

From our Jerusalem

To our Judea - Samaria

To our uttermost parts of the world.

We are reaching out in ever increasing concentric circles to simultaneously reach our generation and our world for Jesus.

This is called The Great Commission

The concept is found in several places in the NT …

Lets look at one in:

Matthew 28

18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

We know where we are going, but …

#2. We Do Not Know What We Will Encounter On Our Journey

We are on a faith adventure with the Holy Ghost, for the Father God and in the name of the King, Jesus.

These are exciting days.

We Know:

* It is not about us.

* We must possess a high tolerance for experimentation

* We must see wrong decisions, bad decisions and costly mistakes as a part of the process and not the problem.

* We must develop great patience for retrial.

* We must not take a temporary situation and create a permanent problem

* We cannot afford to judge success on a weekly basis

* The journey is our friend.

Just in case we do not get the Great Commission fully accomplished, we are ever busy ‘raising up runners for the next lap’

We know where we are going, we do not know what we will encounter but …

#3. We Do Know What It Will Take To Succeed

Conviction

A strong sense of right, wrong and responsibility

Comes from reading, studying & hearing the Word.

Passion

The willingness to be stirred to commitment and action.

Comes from prayer, fasting, praise and worship.

Discipline

A determination to keep a commitment, bear a burden and pay the price.

We must have a conviction, be passionate and disciplined to:

Reach People - Evangelism - (example: fair)

Teach People - Discipleship - (example: His Time/30 Steps)

Keep People - Relationship - (example: SS & Home Groups)
