Family Sunday - Watch

Gtcotr/ss092919

Mark 13:32  “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.”

Matthew 24
37  “But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.
38  “For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark,
39  “and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.”

1 Corinthians 15
51  Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed —
52  in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

1 Thessalonians 4
16  For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first.
17  Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.

There is no doubt that Jesus will come with the shout of an archangel and with the trumpet of God. This is a clear reference to the Feast of Trumpets which marks the beginning of the Jewish New Year. This feast is called the Feast of Yom Teru’ah in Hebrew, which means “Blowing the Shofar”, “Shouting loudly”, and making a lot of noise to awaken those who are asleep and get them up and going. This is the one picture painted from Genesis to Revelation that is undeniable and confirmed by the Living Word.

You can read more about this feast in Leviticus 23 where the dates are set. The Feast of Trumpets begins on the 1st day of the Jewish month of Tishri. We don’t know exactly which day or what hour it will be because it takes two witnesses observing the first sliver of the new moon to blow the trumpets and sound the alarm. This will mark the beginning of the Jewish Biblical New Year. Tonight at sundown the witnesses will be looking and at some point, within the coming hours, the trumpets will sound, and the celebration begin.

·        This is known as the day that God created the heavens and the earth.
·        Jewish Rabbis teach that God created Adam and Eve on this day.
·        They also teach that God will send Messiah on this day.
·        Many NT scholars teach Jesus was born during this time.
·        And, we believe He will come again during this two-day feast … we just don’t know the exact day or the hour … but neither does Jesus.

During the next 21 days we will celebrate the remaining unfulfilled three feasts ordained by God. According to the scriptures, the return of Jesus could be anytime within the next few hours to the next few days.

When we view the feasts which God ordered in the Bible and understand them as hidden treasures, filled with knowledge of things to come, and realize that each year the Jews were participating in dress rehearsals for the great events they represented, we can easily see the life of Jesus and God’s plan for mankind. So far, we have witnessed:

The Feast of Passover - Jesus was crucified as our sacrificial Lamb
The Feast of Unleavened Bread – Jesus body was buried with our sins
The Feast of First Fruits - Jesus was resurrected and lives forevermore
The Feast of Pentecost - God sent the Holy Spirit to fill us with power

These four feasts have been ultimately fulfilled in Christ first coming and in God sending the Holy Spirit. The next feast, beginning at any minute now, will mark the day of the return of Jesus for His Bride. This year might just be the year He comes.

I can easily imagine, in fact I have purposely sat down, closed my eyes and prayerfully imagined what excitement there must be in heaven and wondered if Jesus is sitting on the edge of His throne right now, waiting to see if God will say, this is the year Son, go get your bride! It could be any minute now. Why not today or tonight …

Matthew 24:14  “And this gospel of the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come.’

Mark 13
35  “Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming — in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning —
36  “lest, coming suddenly, he find you sleeping.
37  “And what I say to you, I say to all: Watch!”

My friends, what I say to you, I say to all … watch! Jesus is coming!!!
