It
is the duty of every Believer in Christ to Check, Challenge and Change what we
believe to line up with the Word of God … even what we believe about ourselves.
What we believe matters.
Proverbs 23:7 For as he
thinks in his heart, so is he …
We think what we think, feel what we feel and want what we want
because we believe what we believe …
Romans 12 NLT
1 ¶ And so, dear brothers and
sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done
for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice — the kind he will
find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him.
2 Don’t copy the behavior and
customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing
the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is
good and pleasing and perfect.
3 Because of the privilege
and authority God has given me, I give each of you this warning: Don’t think
you are better than you really are. Be honest in your evaluation of yourselves,
measuring yourselves by the faith God has given us.
An
honest evaluation of ourselves should include the fact that although we are
living in this world we are not of this world. When we are born again we change
in ways that are not always discernable to the naked eye of natural man. In a
moment, in the twinkling of an eye, we are “born-again”. The next morning we
wake up a different person – a different kind of being – what the Apostle Paul
described when by the inspiration of the Holy Spirit he called us: A New Creation in Christ Jesus!
Because
we have changed in ways undetectable by man and are destined to go through a
metamorphosis. It is God’s hope that we would begin this process on earth and
not wait until heaven’s call jerks us into reality. This new creature we become
has some new creation realities that affect us.
If,
for example, you woke up tomorrow and you were a frog … there would be some new
frog realities which you’d need to identify and embrace.
If
you woke up tomorrow and found that you were an angel … there would be some new
realities that would govern your life and abilities as well as a new set of
expectations you had for yourself and others had for you.
When
we get born again we become new creatures freshly created by the hand of God as
the newest member of a new immortal species. Once we pass through the portal of
this life into the dimension known as eternity we will more fully recognize
these things. However, in this life we need to accept and embrace the things
which have changed for us as new creatures in Christ.
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore,
if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have
passed away; behold, all things have become new.
3 New
Creation Realities
1. You are “In Christ”.
2. You are endued with transformational powers.
3. You have been made righteous.
2 Corinthians 5:21 For He
made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the
righteousness of God in Him.
Accept
and embrace the change. Don’t continue to be conformed by the pressures or the
problems of this world. You have transformational powers because you are in
Christ. Use your righteous platform to obtain and maintain audience with God.
Check, challenge and change those things which need to be changed in your mind.
Philemon
6 that the sharing of your faith may
become effective by the acknowledgment of every good thing which is in you in
Christ Jesus.
