Lesson: The Christmas Experience
Pastor remarks and intro of first principle
Today
we will discuss Christmas. The word Christmas is made up of two words:
1. Christ=the
Anointed Messiah
2. mas=day
Therefore,
when we refer to Christmas, we are speaking about the day of Christ.
Without
regard as to which day, month, or season Jesus was actually born, Christmas is
still a definable term we can use to celebrate His birth. The word Christmas,
however, has come to mean different things to various individuals. Let’s
discuss:
First Principle: What does
Christmas mean to the world?
Scripture Reference: Luke 2:7 And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped
Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room
for them in the inn.
Question: Discuss how the
world experiences Christmas.
Pastor remarks and intro of second principle
Second Principle: What does Christmas mean to the believer?
Scripture Reference: Luke 2:30-32 For my eyes have seen Your salvation which You
have prepared before the face of all peoples, a light to bring revelation to the
Gentiles, and the glory of Your people Israel.
Question: Discuss how
believers in Christ experience Christmas and what it means to us.
Pastor remarks and intro of third principle
Third Principle: What does Christmas mean to God?
Scripture Reference:
Luke 2:14 “Glory to God in the highest,
And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!
And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!
Question: Discuss what benefit God received from
Christmas.
