Hymn: I’ve Got a River of Life/Jesus Set Me Free
Memory Verse: Deuteronomy 8:18 And you shall remember
the Lord your God, for it
is He who gives you power to get wealth, that He may establish His
covenant which He swore to your fathers, as it is this day.
Lesson: Breaking Free
Pastor remarks and intro of first principle
First Principle: The Blood
Scripture Reference: Hebrews 9:22 And according to
the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of
blood there is no remission.
Without
the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.
The
blood is salvation.
I
would not want to be without the blood.
It
is the blood that gives us access to God.
Question: Where would we be
without the blood of Christ?
Follow Up Question: Do we have to continually
access the blood in our lives or is it a one-time occurrence at salvation?
Conclusion: We come to God
through the Blood … not the blood of bulls and goats, but by the blood of Jesus
who entered into the Holy Place and obtained eternal redemption for us (Hebrews
9:12). The blood of Jesus speaks better things than the blood of Abel. It is
only by the Blood that we come to God and have access to Him.
Pastor remarks and intro of second
principle
Second Principle: The Name
Scripture Reference: Proverbs 18:10 The name of the LORD is a strong tower; The righteous
run to it and are safe.
It
is the blood that gives us access to the Name.
The
Name is our badge of our authority.
We
pray to God in the Name of Jesus because we have access to God through the
Blood of Jesus. Jesus said, “If you ask anything in my name I will do it.”
Question: Why do some people
wear badges?
Follow Up Question: Where do people get badges?
Conclusion: Policemen, fireman,
and others receive badges to indicate they have become agents of a higher
authority. When an agent shows their badge, they are no longer speaking with
their limited personal authority but rather their words are backed up by
whoever issued their badge. Almighty God has given His children the name of
Jesus to use as a badge of authority. When representing God, we have His
authority to speak in the Name of Jesus.
Pastor remarks and intro of third principle
Third Principle: The Anointing
Scripture
Reference: Acts 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of
Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and power, Who went about doing good and healing
all who were oppressed of the devil, for God was with Him.
It
is the anointing which contains and releases the power of God’s grace to move
mountains, work miracles, and change lives.
The
word anointing means to rub on and therefore rub off on.
Therefore,
the anointing is evidence of God’s presence on our lives.
This
anointing is tangible and transferable.
It
is the power of God available to man.
It
was the anointing that healed the woman with the issue of blood in Mark 5:25ff.
The yoke is destroyed because of the anointing. (Isaiah 10:27)
The yoke is destroyed because of the anointing. (Isaiah 10:27)
Question: Have you ever felt
the presence of God? If so, how did that feel to you?
Follow Up: Take a moment
around the table and pray, asking God to anoint each one of you with the Holy
Spirit and His power.
Conclusion: God has called each
believer to share in the ministry and to help Him accomplish His work in the
earth. We cannot represent God without first being covered by the Blood of
Jesus. However, often a badge is not enough. We also need power to back up our
authority. This is why we need the anointing of God.
