Hymn: At the
Cross
Memory Verse: Romans 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of
Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who
believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek.
Lesson: One Word from
God Changes Everything
Pastor remarks and intro of first principle
First Principle: One Word from God changes everything … in your personal life.
Character: Mary
Scripture Reference: Luke 1:38 Then Mary said,
“Behold the maidservant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word.”
And the angel departed from her.
God’s Word changed Mary’s faith, her feelings, her family,
and her future.
One word from God gave her personal instruction, personal
direction, encouragement, and strength.
Question: How does God speak
to people?
Follow Up Question: How did God’s Word change
Mary’s life?
Conclusion: God did not first
seek Mary’s permission before He interrupted her life. Sometimes God’s Word can
change the course of our life in unexpected ways. However, God’s Word is always
intended for the good of everyone concerned … He has a plan.
Pastor remarks and intro of second
principle
Second Principle: One Word from God changes everything … in your professional
life.
Character: Peter
Scripture Reference: Luke 5:4-5 When He had stopped speaking, He
said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.”
But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled
all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the
net.”
Peter
was a skilled fisherman who knew his business.
Peter
had worked hard all night.
Peter’s
business had suffered a loss.
Now
one word from Jesus changed his business income and turned his day successful.
Question: What is our proper
response when God speaks?
Follow Up Question: Share a time in your life when one word from
God to you also blessed others.
Conclusion: The Word from Jesus
not only rewarded Peter for the loan of his boat but also blessed Peter’s
business and many of his friends as well. Jesus cares about our income. When
God blesses us, we too should share the blessings.
Pastor remarks and intro of third principle
Third Principle: One Word from God changes everything … in the world.
Character: Paul
Scripture Reference: Acts 9:6 So he, trembling and astonished, said, “Lord, what do You want me to
do?” Then the
Lord said to him, “Arise and go into the city, and
you will be told what you must do.”
Paul’s life changed as a result of this single encounter
with Jesus.
One word changed everything in Paul’s life, and as a
result, Paul changed the world.
It was later written that Paul turned the world upside
down.
Question: How can your
changed life change the world?
Follow Up Question: How would the world be
different if you were not a believer?
Conclusion: God speaks to us in
many ways. It is our challenge to hear His word and let it change our personal
life, our business, and our world. One word from God changes everything. What
is God saying to you?
